I’m pumped. I got a call yesterday from the owner of Coe’s Comfrey that let me know that my order of 10 year old comfrey plants was on its way to my door! If you’re not familiar with comfrey, check out Coe’s site. It is one of the most used plants in the permaculture world as a dynamic accumulator and green mulch/fertilizer crop. Comfrey sends down roots deep into the subsoil to pull up nutrients that have leached down there below where other plants can get to it. Then you chop the leaves, let them compost in place, and your plants are happy again! I’ve heard it doesn’t do all that well in FL, but many such reports were from people trying to grow from seed. I ordered year old established plants, and hope this gives me the best chance of success. Many pics to come!
